It was, however, very tight, and with 23 minutes left we were going down.
The afternoon went :-
- Sheff Utd score 0-1 (relegation beckons)
- Saints equalise 1-1 (still relegated Leicester drawing so not good enough)
- Saints take lead 2-1 (safe)
- Sheff Utd equalise 2-2 (relegated)
- (2 mins after 4. above) Saints take lead again 3-2 (safe again!)
- Final whistle (definitely safe)
There were 21 finger chewing minutes between 5 & 6. Had Sheff Utd scored to make it 3-3 then we would have been relegated, yes it was that close!
Now we need to sort out the ownership of the club and then probably get a new manager. The later because the owners will want their man. I do not want to be threatened with League One football ever again!

If you'd been listening to Will Cope then, like me, you'd need some heart meds this morning.
Not from the anxiety of the game but because of his awful announcing.
He did NOT announce that Stearn's second goal was a goal, merely that it was a great shot.
But worse was that at the end he had no clue we were safe because he hadn't worked out that Coventry as well as Leicester were below us. He just kept headless chickening that Stoke's game was going to go on a few minutes more because of the pitch invasion at their ground. After about 5 minutes of this he finally got a clue regarding Coventry's position and then started screaming "We're safe - yes, we're safe!!!"
I paid $60 for last season's coverage with Cope and Jimmy "Y'know" Case - I'm not sure I will be doing so again?!
